About 6 months ago, Greg made the announcement that he wanted to go on a mission. Mike and I were quite shocked! We watched Greg with cautious optimism as he worked on getting himself ready to go. Over the next few months, our caution turned into full fledged excitement as Greg prepared himself to be a missionary. His papers went into the bishop the first week of August. His mission call came in the mail on Sept. 6th! Because of the family's schedule, he couldn't open the call until 9:15 that night. But, he either held it, or kept it by his side until it was time to open. He wasn't letting it out of his sight! (notice the white envelope on the couch by Greg?)
Finally, he gets to open the call!
Reading... Reading....
He's going to Albuquerque, New Mexico!
Our friend, Frank Carollo, and Greg's Young Men's Pres, Tyler Haws, also came over. Tyler Haws played a huge role in helping Greg get ready for his mission. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
Greg enters the MTC on Oct 31st. Halloween! Maybe we should dress him in a Super Man costume?

End of summer.. (sigh........)
We are now officially back in school. Summer is over. But we had a few last minute fun adventures!
Over Labor Day, Mike, Megan, and I went to the cabin with Grandma and Grandpa for a few relaxing days. On Saturday, we went for a hike. We hiked the Boulder Lake/Louie Lake Loop. It is about 6.5 miles, with 5 of it being up hill!
Here we are at our first stop, Boulder Lake.
Once we left Boulder Lake, we climbed up and over the summit to Louie Lake. Here we are along the top. People say that this meadow is full of wildflowers in late June/early July. We may have to do the hike then to see them! The whole time we hiked thru the meadow, I kept thinking of the opening scene to "The Sound of Music." Can anyone sing, "The hills are alive......."
About half way down the other side, you get to Louie Lake. It's not as big as Boulder Lake, but it is still just as beautiful!

Here we are at the end of the loop, very tired, but excited we did it!
I have had a goal for the summer to ride my bike from our house to Lucky Peak. So the weekend after Labor Day, I finally made the big ride. Here's my pictures to prove it!
As we say goodbye to summer, we have lots of great memories! And can start dreaming of next summer!
